Budget reporting
Tracking budgets against actuals, live
Budget against actuals, current, without anyone exporting anything.

Microbeworks ScientificResearch and microbiology
- The starting point
- Budget figures were maintained by hand, actuals were exported from Zoho Books and pasted alongside them, and variance was worked out manually each cycle. Nothing refreshed on its own, and by the time the comparison was assembled it was already describing the past.
- What we did
- A live sync from Zoho Books into Zoho Analytics on a proper data model, with head-wise expenditure, fund balance and variance dashboards on top.
- The outcome
- Budget against actuals, current, without anyone exporting anything.
What we built
A live sync from Zoho Books into Zoho Analytics, with the underlying data modelled so the reporting sits on a proper structure rather than on exports.
On top of it, dashboards covering:
- Head-wise expenditure
- inflow and balance movement
- drill-down by reporting tag
- a consolidated budget view across the organisation
- fund balance by source
- variance tracking against budget
The outcome
Budget against actuals, current, without anyone exporting anything. Variance visible while there is still time to respond to it.
